Juli’s coming out story is about coming into her body and how she trained herself to be a lesbian.
Juli’s story was part of a group of stories recorded on Salt Spring Island, partially sponsored by GLOSSI (Gays and Lesbians of Salt Spring Island). The group was renamed and is now DIASSI Diverse and Inclusive Salt Spring Island.
Hugh
Hugh talks about having repressed his attraction to men for most of his life and eventually coming out in his fifties.
Jerome
Our Christmas story this year is Jerome. He tells his story of moving to a new community believing that acceptance and understanding from his church would greet him, only to be shunned when he came out to them. What’s refreshing here is Jerome’s persistence in his belief that education would make everything well again. He also shares his theory on how the LGBTQ communities could save the churches.
