Looking For Storytellers

Looking For Storytellers

Generational Allies is now looking for storytellers!!

Are you LGBQT2SI+ identified? Over 55? Would you like to be interviewed about your life experiences for the Generational Allies Workshops?  We are particularly looking for Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) folks. We very much want to include your voices and your stories in all their complexities and intersectionalities.

Does this sounds like you, or like people you know?  Then get in touch, and tell us about your fabulous story. Tell your friends and family about us. Help us find the great stories that we know are out there. You can send an email to lulu at onmyplanet dot ca or you can use the contact form on the website. Let us know where you’re located, (preference will be given to those on Vancouver Island or the Lower Mainland of BC, but there’s a possibility of doing a Zoom interview) and please include your contact information (phone, email, and mailing address). It would also be good for us to know your age and how you identify.

The interviews will take place in late summer and early fall of 2021 at a variety of locations on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Everyone involved in conducting and recording the interviews will be fully vaccinated and all CoVid Protocols will be observed.

We can’t wait to hear your story!!

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the project, the interview process or about us, the workshop developers.

The Generational Allies Workshops are intended to start conversations among a wide range of older adults to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Transgender, Two-Spirit and Intersex (LGBQT2I+) inclusion and the development of allyship practices. All the workshops are based on personal experience stories from LGBQT2SI+ older adults (55+). Interviews with storytellers will be recorded on video and edited into 5-10 min videos that focus on specific issues faced by older LGBQT2I+ folks and will form the basis of the workshop discussions. They are meant to be hosted by organizations that already provide services to older adults, and are to be presented/facilitated by LGBTQ2SI+ older adults.  Once complete, the workshop materials will be available as free downloads on the onmyplanet.ca site.
