Generational Allies is onmyplanet.ca’s second series of Allyship workshops. The goal of the workshops is to build awareness and understanding of gender, sexuality and human rights issues to support 2SLGBTQIA+ allyship and inclusion in older adult communities. All the modules are based on personal experience stories from the in depth interviews with 2SLGBTQI+ older adults, that were recorded specifically for this series.
The workshops are meant to be delivered online, by experienced 2SLGBTQI+ older adult facilitators, on a volunteer basis, and hosted by community groups and organizations that already provide services to senior and older adult communities.

Support for facilitators. There are a number of support and resource documents that were created for our previous workshop series Gender Ally and many of the principles discussed are applicable in Generational Allies. The documents; 
Preparing the Facilitator, How To Use The Materials, Terms and Definitions List as well as the Resources List are quite helpful. Over the coming months (summer of 2022), these will be updated for Generational Allies, but for now please use the provided documents to help build confidence and familiarize those of all skill levels with the subject matter. We also offer Orientation Sessions to help you, your organization or community group present your own workshops, for a fee. 
The orientation sessions last about 3-4 hours and will introduce you to our approach and learning objectives within the workshop materials. We can also provide a facilitated orientation session for your commercial business, please contact us for more information.
