The Generational Allies Workshop Project is happening right now and you can get involved in a number of ways.
The Generational Allies Workshops will be based on recorded stories and interviews created specifically for this project. Each workshop will focus on a specific issue faced by older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Transgender, Two-Spirit and Intersex (LGBQT2I+) folks in BC. All the workshops are meant to be facilitated by older LGBQT2I+ volunteers who will be trained as part of the project. The workshops are intended to start conversations among a wide range of seniors and elders to support LGBQT2I+ inclusion and the development of allyship practices.
How to get involved:
Tell us what you think on our survey, now online at surveyplanet.
Are you over 55 and identify as LGBQT2I+ (or with your own label)?
We would love to know what you think and what kinds of things are most important to you. Start the survey, which is online at surveyplanet or if you’d prefer to do the survey over the phone, contact us please contact us here to make an appointment.
Be an Advocate
Contact us and let us know that you’d like to help us promote our survey and the whole Generational Allies project to potential volunteers and storytellers.
Tell Your Story
If you’ve made it this far you have a story, and it’s probably something that everyone can learn from. Would you like to share your story? If you’re over 55 and identify as LGBQT2I+, let us know that you want to tell your story by contacting us here.
We will record your story on video, or audio or maybe you’d prefer to write it down? All stories collected for this project will be added to the Queer Story Archive at onmyplanet.ca and may be included in the workshop videos.
Would you like to be a volunteer facilitator?
Are you interested in learning some facilitation skills and delivering our workshops to groups of your peers? The workshops will be hosted by organizations that provide services for seniors and elders and will be delivered online or in person if ever the CoVid restrictions permit it. You need to be over 55 and identify as LGBQT2I+.
If any of these sound like you, please contact us here.
