The online survey has wrapped up and we are now starting to schedule our focus groups for mid-February. If you’re over 55, identify under the rainbow and you’re interested in sharing some of your knowledge and experience, send us an email. Let us know how you identify and which group you think you’d fit best in (IE: Lesbian, Two-Spirit, Non-Binary, Gay, etc.) We’d especially like to hear from you if you identify as Two-Spirit, Trans or Non-Binary/Gender Non-Conforming.
Thank you to those of you that did the survey and volunteered for the focus groups. If you already told us you want to be part of a focus group, we’ve sent out an email invitation last week (Jan. 30th, 2021) – if you know you’re on the list and didn’t get the email – check your junk folders, or get in touch with us and let us know you still want to get involved.
We’ve heard from a number of people from all over the rainbow and we’re excited about how the whole project is progressing. Everyone has a wealth of experience and insight and we can’t wait to bring all that into the project. We know the stories we’re going to uncover are eye openers and they will make for compelling workshops. We’re looking forward to hearing from you, xo Lulu
The Generational Allies Workshop Project is happening right now and you can get involved in a number of ways.
The Generational Allies Workshops will be based on recorded stories and interviews created specifically for this project. Each workshop will focus on a specific issue faced by older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Transgender, Two-Spirit and Intersex (LGBQT2I+) folks in BC. All the workshops are meant to be facilitated by older LGBQT2I+ volunteers who will be trained as part of the project. The workshops are intended to start conversations among a wide range of seniors and elders to support LGBQT2I+ inclusion and the development of allyship practices.
How to get involved:
The online Survey at surveyplanet.
The online survey is now closed – thank you to everyone that participated.
Are you over 55 and identify as LGBQT2I+ (or with your own label)?
We would love to know what you think and what kinds of things are most important to you. Start the survey, which is online at surveyplanet or if you’d prefer to do the survey over the phone, contact us please contact us here to make an appointment.
Be an Advocate
Contact us and let us know that you’d like to help us promote the Generational Allies project to potential volunteers and storytellers.
Tell Your Story
If you’ve made it this far you have a story, and it’s probably something that everyone can learn from. Would you like to share your story? If you’re over 55 and identify as LGBQT2SI+, let us know that you want to tell your story by contacting us here.
We will record your story on video, or audio or maybe you’d prefer to write it down? All stories collected for this project will be added to the Queer Story Archive at onmyplanet.ca and may be included in the workshop videos.
Would you like to be a volunteer facilitator?
Are you interested in learning some facilitation skills and delivering our workshops to groups of your peers? The workshops will be hosted by organizations that provide services for seniors and elders and will be delivered online, or in person, if ever the CoVid restrictions permit it. You need to be over 55 and identify as LGBQT2SI+.
If any of these sound like you, please contact us here.
