Mycelium Cafe RSVP June 21st, 2026Mycelium Cafe RSVP June 21st, 2026Inspired by the Allies in Action Community Discussion events, and a network based concept of inclusion, onmyplanet.ca brings you: The Mycelium Cafe. An all ages drop-in for 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults. Every third Sunday from 12 noon- 2pm Doors and Soup at: 11:45am (trying to start the program promptly at 12 noon so feel free to show up a little early)Oaklands Community Centre 2728 Belmont Ave. Victoria, Lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional TerritoriesWe acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory these events and onmyplanet.ca is based. In particular we recognize the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples and their continuing relationship with the land and water. We will gather, have some soup, watch a few queer and trans stories, talk about stuff, and maybe we'll organize ourselves into something that looks more like activism. The Soup Today is: Sopa de Lima (no not lima beans - lima is Spanish for lime): This is a chicken broth-based soup, with jalapeño chillies and lime. Added while serving: diced cooked chicken, fresh diced tomatoes, cilantro (all are optional). This soup is served with corn chips and we encourage you to crunch them up into your soup. The lime juice will be in the soup but the chillies will be on the side for those who are timid about spice. This soup is gluten free - barring the chance of the corn chips having trace amounts of gluten depending on where they are made. The Video for Today: As a tribute to the fallen Topp Twin, Dame Jools Topp, who tragically passed on May 23rd 2026, we will be screening the documentary "Untouchable Girls". The Topp Twins, a folk singing and comedy dynamic duo from New Zealand, were inseparable twin sisters, both lesbians, and have received countless awards and accolades in New Zealand. They were hilarious and tireless activists over the last few decades.Planning to show half the documentary in June and the other half in July, unless everyone in the room wants to see the whole thing. Please try to arrive on time. It’s free to attend. Donations are accepted should you feel inclined. We would like this event to be scent-free - please do not wear perfume or other scented products, thank you.
